This Contractor Safety Manual (“Manual”) outlines the safety expectations for all contractors performing work and documenting tasks using the Quality Work App (“the App”). Safety is a shared responsibility, and all contractors must follow the guidelines in this Manual as well as any additional safety rules provided by their hiring organization or job site.
1. General Safety Principles
Contractors must prioritize safety at all times. This includes:
- Following all job‑site safety rules and regulations
- Using required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintaining awareness of surroundings and potential hazards
- Reporting unsafe conditions immediately
- Stopping work if conditions become unsafe
2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Contractors must wear appropriate PPE based on the task and environment. Required PPE may include:
- Hard hats
- Safety glasses or goggles
- High‑visibility vests
- Gloves suitable for the task
- Steel‑toe or protective footwear
- Hearing protection when required
PPE must be worn correctly and maintained in good condition at all times.
3. Safe Work Practices
Contractors must follow safe work practices appropriate to their tasks. This includes:
- Using tools and equipment only as intended
- Inspecting tools before use and reporting defects
- Keeping work areas clean and free of hazards
- Following lockout/tagout procedures when required
- Using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding safely
4. Photo Documentation Safety
The App requires contractors to capture before‑, during‑, and after‑photos of work. When taking photos, contractors must:
- Ensure the area is safe before taking out a device
- Avoid stepping into hazardous zones for a better angle
- Never operate machinery or tools while photographing
- Maintain stable footing and avoid distractions
- Respect privacy and avoid capturing unnecessary personal information
5. Hazard Communication
Contractors must be familiar with hazards associated with their tasks and materials. This includes:
- Reading and understanding safety data sheets (SDS)
- Following chemical handling procedures
- Labeling and storing materials properly
- Reporting spills or exposures immediately
6. Incident Reporting
Contractors must report all incidents, including:
- Injuries, regardless of severity
- Near misses or close calls
- Unsafe conditions or equipment failures
- Property damage
Reports should be made to the hiring organization and documented in the App when appropriate.
7. Environmental Safety
Contractors must follow environmental protection guidelines, including:
- Proper disposal of waste materials
- Preventing spills and contamination
- Using environmentally safe products when possible
- Following site‑specific environmental rules
8. Use of Devices and the App
Contractors must use mobile devices and the App responsibly. This includes:
- Keeping devices charged and functional
- Using devices only in safe, permitted areas
- Protecting devices from damage or contamination
- Ensuring secure handling of photos and task data
9. Consequences of Unsafe Behavior
Failure to follow this Manual may result in:
- Corrective action or retraining
- Removal from specific tasks or job sites
- Suspension or loss of access to the App
- Termination of contract or engagement
